Flying over the Atlantic Ocean via Greenland I was surprised at the views from my window. Looking down, all I could see was what can only be described as being similar to the globules of fat that appear when you put water into a roasting tin to soak off the burnt on food (this happens a lot in our house hold). It took me a few seconds to work out, but what I was actually seeing was icebergs. You will have to forgive me for stating my blog off so randomly, but is what I wrote in my diary so I thought that I ought to use it!
On arrival to Calgary Airport, I met up with my Auntie Di who gave me a great bear hug, followed by comments about my hair....will this ever stop?! (I think that I ought to introduce her to the Lindsays...)
Just before we got back to Di's place, a fantastic thing happened. This is a man thing which I think that only men will be able to appreciate. Do you remember watching the superman film with Christopher Reeve? As a boy superman lived on a farm; the house had a little spire and the barns were tomato red, jog any memories? well, my aunt happens to live next door! How amazing is that? When I get the photos, I will put them on this entry so you all can see!!
Thursday morning came and I had agreed to go swimming with Di. Hmmm on entering the pool I was greeted by about 15 over 75s. Auntie Di had forgotten to mention that this was an Aquacise class. (My Auntie Diana had warned me of this as she was exposed to this when she visited with uncle James, however this had slipped my mind!) I was trapped with nowhere to hide, so took the positive attitude and thought that now I was there I should give it my best shot. An hour later my body was telling me that I had over done it and so I changed, turning down the invitation to the group Jacuzzi with the old broads that follows the class!
Living with Di and Marg is just like living with my Granny and Grandad (Tom and Doris). My Auntie Di is the female version of Tom and so I just go with the flow and let her push me in the right directions. Life is great at Di's although a little slower than I am used to which is to be expected. I am going to give it more time though and re-evaluate the situation when I have fully settled in.
This weekend however, I have decided to fly to Vancouver to sort out my work permit and do some sight seeing. I got here last night and stayed at the downtown Youth Hostel that is basic but does the job. I have made friends with two Auzzie guys who have been here for 3.5 months which is cool, we are all planning to go out tonight, but I am not sure where; it all looks great and there is so much to see and do! This morning I bought a digital camera, which will occupy me for a little while at least and hopefully grab some great pics!
The Weather here is cloudy and cool, however better than Calgary which has had very heavy rain and flooding. Marnie has told me that you guys in the UK are having great hot weather - typical!
